West Virginia State Bar Bridge the Gap Seminar

Members admitted to the West Virginia State Bar after July 1, 2018 are subject to the following requirements:

The West Virginia Supreme Court adopted proposed amendments to the Bridge the Gap Program by Administrative Order in October 2017, with the changes taking effect on July 1, 2018. Click Here for the Administrative Order

  • The new Bridge the Gap Program requires mandatory in-person attendance at one of two seminars to be held annually.  The training sessions will occur once at the State Bar Annual Meeting and a second time at a geographically different location each calendar year. 
  • The first program offering will occur on April 8, 2019 in Charleston, West Virginia at the State Bar Annual Meeting.  The second program offering will occur in November 2019 in Bridgeport, WV.  The third program offering will occur in April 2020 at the State Bar Annual Meeting at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
  • Each new lawyer admitted to practice after July 1, 2018 will have twenty-four months after their date of admission to complete the program.
  • Bridge the Gap will be FREE to all new admittees. Attendance will count toward the mandatory CLE attendance requirements.

Additionally the West Virginia State Bar’s Annual Meeting Banquet is being held on Sunday April 7, 2019. Take advantage of excellent Embassy Suites accommodation rates offered only to our members.* All are encouraged to attend the State Bar’s Annual Awards Banquet on Sunday, April 7, where Fifty Year Bar Members, Past Presidents of the State Bar and award winners for both the State Bar and Legal Aid of West Virginia will be recognized. 

The cost to attend the Banquet on April 7 is $75.

Event Registration Refunds and Cancellations For Paid Events: Registration fees may be refunded, less $20 for processing, for written cancellations emailed by 5 p.m. up to four business days before the seminar or by phone call made to Kathy Henning 304-553-7225 or Anita Casey 304-553-7228 up to four business days before the seminar. No refunds will be issued within the 72 hours before the event is held. Canceled registrations may not be transferred. You may send a substitute (e.g., someone from your firm) in lieu of canceling.
